Carpool, Vanpool & TranSit

Carpool and Vanpool

If you commute further away from campus, carpooling or vanpooling will save wear and tear on your car, help reduce congestion and pollution, and save money on driving and parking costs. To find a carpool match log on to RoundTrip to find people who might fit with your schedule or to see if there is a vanpool from your home area. If you are interested in travel into or out of the state or just for occasional trips, you are welcome to register but the database primarily includes people looking for an ongoing travel option.

Transit

Metro Transit offers service throughout Madison and several of the surrounding communities. Plan your route online at www.mymetrobus.com or watch one of the many videos showing you how to ride the bus.

Several campuses have unlimited ride pass programs for students to make it even more cost effective to take the bus.

Need a bus to get out of Madison? Private bus companies provide scheduled service between cities and to major airports throughout the region and state to help you get to where you need to go. Visit the Wisconsin Department of Transportation website for more information on your options.

Park and Ride

Park and Ride lots offer free parking on the periphery of the Madison area for those of you commuting to campus from out of town.  These lots are a great place to meet your carpool partner or start your bike ride. Metro Transit also provides service from several  park and ride lots. To learn more about Park and Ride lot locations go to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation web page.
